Vasaloppet 2025 – Women’s Race Recap

The women’s race started alongside the men’s at 08:00 CET, with a fast pace from the very beginning. As the skiers approached Högsta Punkten (the highest point of the course), Anikken Gjerde Alnæs (Team Engcon) and Stina Nilsson (Team Ragde Charge) led the charge, creating a small gap over their closest rivals, Silje Øyre Slind (Team Aker Dæhlie) and Emilie Fleten (Team Ramudden).

Shortly after, Nilsson broke away from Alnæs, strategically working with the men’s peloton to increase her lead. By the Smågan Sprint at 10.7 km, Nilsson was already 10.5 seconds ahead of Alnæs, with Øyre Slind trailing by 28.5 seconds and Fleten nearly 45 seconds back.

At the Mångsbodarna checkpoint (24.3 km), Nilsson extended her advantage to 1:20 over Øyre Slind and Alnæs, while Fleten had fallen more than three minutes behind. By the time they reached Risberg (35 km), Nilsson’s lead had grown to 2:32 over Øyre Slind and 2:37 over Alnæs, with Fleten struggling 4:39 behind.

Nilsson’s Commanding Performance

By the Evertsberg Sprint (48 km), Nilsson was in total control, crossing first with a gap of 3:38 over Øyre Slind and Alnæs. Fleten, last year’s champion, was already nearly seven minutes behind.

At Oxberg (62 km), Nilsson’s lead had stretched to 4:48, securing her dominance in the race. From this point onward, the battle for second place became the main focus, with Alnæs and Øyre Slind working together to maintain their positions.

Nilsson continued her relentless pace, arriving at Hökberg (71 km) with a 5:28 lead. Despite fatigue setting in, she held strong and crossed the finish line in 3:54:00, securing a decisive victory and her first-ever Ski Classics Pro Tour win.
